Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Terrain website ("Site") or iOS application ("App"), collectively referred to as the "Service," you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Description of Service

Terrain is a wellness platform that provides educational content about Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and related daily practices. The Service includes:

  • A terrain assessment quiz to identify your body constitution type
  • Personalized daily routines, ingredients, and movements
  • Educational content about TCM concepts and practices
  • Progress tracking features including mood, symptoms, and routine logging
  • Multi-day wellness programs

The Service is for informational and educational purposes only. It is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

The content provided through Terrain — including terrain types, ingredient suggestions, routines, and wellness recommendations — represents educational information based on Traditional Chinese Medicine concepts. These are shared for wellness education and should not replace consultation with qualified healthcare professionals.

Always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified health provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition, before starting any new wellness routine, or if you experience any adverse reactions.

Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you read or learned through the Service.

User Accounts

The App offers optional account creation via email or Sign in with Apple. Account features enable cloud synchronization of your data across devices. If you create an account:

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials
  • You agree to provide accurate information
  • You are responsible for all activity under your account
  • You may delete your account at any time through the App settings

You may use the App without an account. Data will be stored locally on your device and will not sync across devices.

User Data

When you use the App, we collect and store the following information:

  • Terrain Profile: Quiz responses, terrain type, and modifier
  • Safety Preferences: Health conditions you choose to disclose (pregnancy, medications, dietary restrictions)
  • Daily Check-ins: Mood ratings, symptoms, routine completions, and notes
  • Cabinet: Your saved ingredients and staples
  • Progress Data: Streaks, completion history, and program enrollment

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its servers
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the App
  • Remove or modify any proprietary notices
  • Use the Service to provide medical advice to others
  • Submit false or misleading information

Intellectual Property

All content in the Service — including text, graphics, logos, icons, images, ingredient information, routines, educational content, and software — is the property of Terrain Health or its content suppliers and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from our content without prior written consent.

Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with the following third-party services:

  • Supabase: Cloud database for account sync (optional, if you create an account)
  • Apple HealthKit: Step count data (optional, read-only access with your permission)
  • Apple WeatherKit: Weather data for location-aware suggestions (location is not stored or tracked)
  • Sign in with Apple: Optional authentication method

These services have their own terms of service and privacy policies.

Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct we determine to be harmful.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. If you have a synced account, you may request deletion of your cloud data by contacting us.

Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.

Terrain Health shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to damages for loss of data, health outcomes, or other intangible losses.

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us, if any, for access to the Service.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Terrain Health, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. For material changes, we may notify you through the App or via email if you have an account.

Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
